Starbucks UK has handed its staff a Christmas cash bonus and free shares after it delivered "healthy" sales growth in its past quarter.
The coffee chain is giving its 6,700 UK staff shares worth between £370 to £500 each, and they will also share in a festive bonus of £1.5m. Starbucks UK's like-for-like sales achieved a single-digit percentage increase in the three months to 31 December, its sixth consecutive quarter of growth.
Darcy Willson-Rymer, the managing director of Starbucks UK, said: "Sales grew again despite appalling weather and we are serving a record number of customers."
