Starbucks UK served up strong sales growth in the UK in its second quarter after the "exceptionally" warm weather in March helped it enjoy soaring sales of frappucinos.
The coffee giant also hailed the contribution of its loyalty card and new "bite-size" cakes to its seventh consecutive quarter of growth. Despite the slowdown on the high street, Starbucks said yesterday that it had posted a "single-digit" rise in UK sales.
Darcy Willson-Rymer, Starbucks UK and Ireland managing director, said: "It's clear there's been a slowdown in consumer spending in the first quarter of the year, so it's encouraging that we've been able to continue to increase like-for-like sales. We've worked hard to give customers more reasons to visit us".
