The number of tattoo parlours opening across Britain has more than doubled in the past three years, according to new research.

A study by the insurance firm Simply Business showed the biggest increases were in Scotland and Greater London, with sharp rises in East Anglia and Wales.

Jason Stockwood, chief executive of Simply Business, said: "With the social perception of tattoos changing as a result of media, celebrity and fashion trends, it's good to see the spirit of entrepreneurs shining through as they respond to the evolving demands of modern consumers."
