HONG KONG: Share prices closed slightly higher, as gains in two market heavyweights reversed earlier losses in the key index. The Hang Seng Index rose 45.33 points, or 0.3 percent, to close at 15,422.52 after dropping as much as 1.5 percent.

BANGKOK: Thai share prices ended marginally higher on the release of positive economic data. The Composite Index rose 0.95 point, or 0.2 percent, to 423.07.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian shares ended slightly lower in lackluster trading. The Composite Index shed 1.79 points, or 0.2 percent, to 732.87.

MANILA: The Philippine's key index ended marginally higher. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index rose 3.59 points, or 0.2 percent, to 1,983.01.

TAIPEI: Taiwan's key index ended slightly higher, boosted by gains in technology shares. The Weighted Price Index gained 45.33 points, or 0.58 percent, at 7,766.20.

SINGAPORE: Share prices closed lower. The Straits Times Index fell 28.50 points, or 1.3 percent, to 2,208.63.

SYDNEY: Australian shares closed lower on weakness in the industrial sector. The All Ordinaries index ended at 3,037.7, down 6.3 points, or 0.2 percent.

WELLINGTON: New Zealand shares fell. The NZSE-40 capital index closed 13.74 points, or 0.7 percent, lower at 2,098.19.
