Welsh Water in £1bn spend

The not-for-profit company Welsh Water unveiled plans yesterday to spend £1bn on infrastructure and renewable energy over the next three years, creating around 1,500 construction jobs.

The company is improving its treatment works, including rebuilding 22 of them, and will spend more cash on maintaining its networks of water mains and sewers in Wales, Herefordshire and Deeside. The group announced a £7m profit for reinvestment in the business.
