In the latest twist in the long-running row between Boeing and Airbus, the World Trade Organisation has ruled that Boeing received at least $5.3bn (£3.3bn) in illegal subsidies from the US government.
The 900-page report confirms findings shared with the two companies in January and is part of a six-year back-and-forth of claim, counter-claim and appeal between the two aircraft makers.
Airbus hailed yesterday's ruling as a victory. But the US also welcomed the outcome, claiming it proved the sums paid were dwarfed by the subsidies the EU gave Airbus. Both sides may appeal.Reuse content
