Post Office retains BBC contract
THE POST OFFICE has fought off intense competition to hold on to a crucial contract to collect and enforce the BBC's licence fee.
A consortium including the Post Office was yesterday awarded the contract, which is likely to be worth more than pounds 500m over the next seven years. EDS, the US computer group, had been a strong challenger in the bid, which was opened up to competition for the first time. The Post Office consortium includes Bull, the French computer group and WPP, the advertising giant.
