Rudd makes pounds 3.2m from options

SIR NIGEL RUDD (pictured), chairman of Williams, the industrial group, made pounds 3.2m last year after exercising options. The options were awarded 10 years ago and had to be cashed before the end of last year or they would have expired. The company said yesterday that most of the proceeds had been reinvested in Williams shares.

Roger Carr, the chief executive made pounds 1.5m from cashing in options. Sir Nigel's salary, including benefits and awards, has come down from pounds 792,000 in 1997 to pounds 765,000 last year. This year he will receive pounds 644,000. MrCarr's salary rose last year to pounds 828,000 from pounds 665,000 the year before.
