BREAKING UP Russia's enormous centralised energy companies is not on the government's agenda, according to Viktor Chernomyrdin, Energy Minister. But the big oil and gas combines might one day be turned into joint stock companies and sold, he said. Russia has yet to set a date for freeing energy prices, despite international pressure to do so.
