bAllied Domecq 514.5p (up 22.5p, 4.6 per cent). Reports that Pernod Ricard has appointed advisers to look at a bid for the drinks group excite.

bGlaxoSmithKline 1,196p (up 18p, 1.5 per cent). Traders piling into the stock in advance of results from the pharmaceuticals giant next week.

bSpirent 69.25p (up 3.75p, 5.7 per cent). Robust results from its US peer Ixia lead traders to conclude that trading at Spirent should be strong.

bJD Wetherspoon 280p (up 7p, 2.6 per cent). Rumours of a private equity- backed bid for the pubs operator circled the Square Mile.

bNadian 5.62p (up 2.25p, 66.7 per cent). Says it is in talks that may lead to the company concluding a major deal.

bPlantation & General 33p (up 8.75p, 36.1 per cent). Announces the purchase of an 80 per cent stake in a Russian property business.

bCFA Capital 0.39p (up 0.09p, 30.0 per cent). Ian Buckley takes over from Stephen Barclay as chairman of the brokerage.

bItouch 36.75p (up 3.75p, 11.4 per cent). Confirms it is in talks to buy Monstermob.

nUnliever 520p (down 5.25p, 1.0 per cent). Investors worry that results next week from the consumer goods giant will disappoint again.

nNational Express 895.5p (down 41.5p, 4.4 per cent). Citigroup Smith Barney downgrades the stock to "sell" from "hold".

nBBA 309.25p (down 6.75p, 2.1 per cent). Rumours of a break-up bid for the group wane.

nDunham-Bush 1.25p (down 0.5p, 28.5 per cent). Reminds investors that the company's shares will be delisted next week.

nTecteon 2.87p (down 0.5p, 14.8 per cent). AGM statement and the appointment of Amir Nooral as chief executive fail to excite the City.

nHyder Consulting 198.5p (down 5.5p, 2.7 per cent). Unveils plans to raise pounds 10m via a placing at 184p.

nNeteller 540.5p (down 10p, 1.8 per cent). Profits-taking after a bullish trading update.
