SNAPSHOTS OF '99: THE END OF LIFFE AS WE KNOW IT

Stewart Williams, the Royal Bank of Scotland's floor manager at the London International Financial Futures Exchange, was one of the thousands of traders uprooted when Liffe decided to close the pits and switch its dealing to computers. This picture is from Edward Barber's In The City, a photographic documentary of the Square Mile last summer.

The book is published by Concrete Editions at pounds 150.
