VSEL 'to lose staff'

TEN thousand shipbuilding and engineering workers at VSEL Barrow, Cumbria, have been warned that large-scale redundancies are on the way when they return from their holidays in a fortnight. Shipbuilding unions say up to 1,000 jobs may be affected. The company would not comment until an announcement was made.
