CREDIBILITY GAP: The Conservatives stepped up pressure on Labour over the "black hole" in its spending plans, claiming the Oppposition was in disarray over privatisation of the National Air Traffic System. Last week Gordon Brown, shadow Chancellor, said he would consider the sale of the system to help fund the party's programme.

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY: Thieves escaped with more than pounds 2,000 of a Liberal Democrat club's takings as members gathered yards away for their annual meeting at Windsor Liberal Club, Berkshire. Manager Colin Charters had popped out for a few moments to show guests where to go for the club's annual meeting when the thieves made off with the two boxes containing pounds 2,149.81.
