Cashing eurocheques is slowly being phased out in France, making it increasingly difficult for holidaymakers to use the facility.

Only four French banks still offer a eurocheque encashment service in the majority of their branches, leaving many tourists stranded in remote areas without any means of obtaining cash. The banks say that they have suffered from fraud by continuing to offer a eurocheque encashment service.
