Correction: Primary schools league table

Figures for attainment in English and maths at Heron Cross primary school, Stoke-on-Trent, featured in an article in yesterday's edition, incorrectly showed that it as among the worst primary schools in England.

The figures related to the speech and language unit attached to the school. Test results for the primary school, which has shown great improvements in recent years, placed it much higher in the league tables.

The figures for Green Park Combined School, Milton Key-nes, were also incorrect. The attainment figure for science should have been 89 per cent but was omitted and instead replaced by the school's ranking. The school is, in fact, ranked number three in the area.

Science results for four other Milton Keynes schools were also omitted and their rank transposed into the science column: Drayton Park Combined, Lavendon Combined, Water Hall Combined and Watling Way Middle. Watling Way should not have been listed in the lowest-scoring 10 schools.

We would like to apologise to those readers who were unable to find results from their own area in the paper they received. This was due to distribution problems.
