Governor's comments

The Bank of England has asked us to make clear that comments attributed to Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England, in today's Independent , which may have given the impression of being based on an interview, were drawn from an appearance before the Commons Treasury Select Committee on 26 June and may not necessarily reflect his current thinking on fast developing events.
