Public Services Management Update: Pay cut row
White-collar workers at Tameside council, Greater Manchester, have rejected a proposed 1.4 per cent pay cut, offered in return for a no compulsory redundancy deal. The authority says that in order to set a legal budget it must cut pounds 1.5m from its staff costs. Tameside is now set to issue redundancy notices, and Nalgo has threatened industrial action.
