Get all steamed up in the nicest possible way at Wetheriggs Pottery tomorrow. Officially 5 April is Steam Day at the only steam-powered pottery left in this country. Guest Fred Dibnah, steeplejack, engineer and TV celebrity, will check the working order of Josephine, the Victorian steam engine, and get her started up for the season. Besides looking at the pots, or even throwing one yourself, you can pet a pig - Wetheriggs has a rare breed collection that includes a pig called Del Boy - visit the newt pond and see a blunger (clay mixer) in action. Later on you can eat pie and peas with Fred and take home a bottle of Josephine's steam - signed by Fred, of course.

Wetheriggs Country Pottery, Clifton Dykes, Penrith, Cumbria CA10 2DH (01768 892733). Sunday 5 April 10am-5pm. Signed bottle of Josephine's steam, pounds 1.99
