Zeke Vanderhoek is starting a public charter school with a radically different philosophy than any other in the world. The Equity Project (TEP) Charter School, designed to serve at-risk students in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, is paying teachers over $125 thousand per year, and offers a year-long sabbatical every five years. Vanderhoek tells BigThink.com that, once we start valuing teachers highly, education will become infinitely more valuable to students.
