Icelandic comedian comes up with novel way to respond to Julien Blanc

Icelandic comedian comes up with novel way to respond to Julien Blanc

The number of countries self-styled "pick-up artist" Julien Blanc is able to travel to is rapidly diminishing after he was deported from Australia and prevented from getting a visa to the UK.

But as Canada mulls a similar ban and petitions against him gather pace in Brazil and South Korea, one resident of Iceland at least has said the country should welcome the 26-year-old Swiss-born American.

Cartoonist and playwright Hugleikur Dagsson wrote on his Facebook page, in a post translated into English and uploaded by the Reykjavik Grapevine that he contributes to, that barring Blanc from Iceland would "make a martyr out of him".

"If we deny him entry, he'll brag about it on Twitter and probably get loads of retweets from a sad army of brain dead, semen-reeking, backwards-baseball-cap-wearing humanoids," he wrote.

"He'll be a hero among skunks and s*heels, and this is what he wants. Let's not do him that favour."

Instead Dagsson, 37, proposes that the men of Iceland "use our privilege for good".

"Chauvinists like this creature are almost without exception homophobic. They fear nothing more than someone treating them like they treat women," he wrote. "I say we hit on Julien Blanc. Every single one of us."

He went on to say: "I urge every male reporter to stroke his thighs while interviewing him. I urge every large man to tell him what a purdy mouth he has...

"I think this will be the funniest thing ever. Let's not help him feel like a hero. Let's make him feel like the one thing he most despises. Let's make him feel like a chick."

Dagsson added: 'Maybe, this will transform his visit to Iceland into an Ebenezer Scrooge-like experience. It might even make him a better man. He might run down the street, screaming, "I'm a douchebag! I'm a douchebag! And God bless us everyone!'

"Or, maybe he'll just run home and cry in his pillow."

He posted photos on social media accounts, now protected, with the hashtag #ChokingGirlsAroundTheWorld, and while speaking about a visit to Japan said: "If you're a white male, you can do what you want. I'm just romping through the streets, just grabbing girls' heads."

He was barred entry to the UK last week after more than 150,000 people signed a petition urging the Home Office to intervene.
