The Labour Party has turned to the direct marketing agency which developed Tesco's Clubcard to help it drum-up funds for its forthcoming general election campaign.

Evans Hunt Scott, which has already played a part in boosting Labour's membership, is to run a 24-hour rapid response unit from its offices in Soho. The party hopes that the ten-man unit, which was formally opened last night by Labour's general election co-ordinator and spin doctor, Peter Mandelson MP, is hoping to boost Labour's campaign coffers by up to pounds 3m.
