Lapland is too cold, says holidaymaker

A TOURIST tried to get compensation for his trip to see Father Christmas in Lapland - because it was too cold. He said the tour firm had not told him to take warm clothes, even though it had said it could drop to minus 23C (minus 9F).

That was just one of many strange complaints to holiday firms last year, a survey by travel companies found.

One tourist complained: "The maid left a bouquet of flowers on the bed and I suffer from hay fever." Another said: "The air hostess forced a meal on me even though I had booked a self-catering holiday."

One couple sought compensation because they spent hours looking for hotel room 601. When they asked the receptionist for help, she pointed out that the key was upside-down and they should go to room 109.
