Lords challenge in Porter case

THE DISTRICT auditor is to appeal against the quashing of a pounds 27m surcharge imposed on the former Westminster City Council leader Dame Shirley Porter and her deputy, David Weeks. John Magill is to mount a Lords challenge against a Court of Appeal ruling setting aside the surcharge, levied for a policy of promoting council homes in selected wards, which he said was "gerrymandering".
