`Mean' child thieves

A gang of children yesterday broke into a church and stole the collection box which contained pounds 300, Kent police said. The children, aged between eight and eleven, broke into St Augustine's Church in Gillingham at around 11.30am. They were chased but escaped with the box. A police spokesman described the Christmas Day theft as "particularly mean".
