Black-eyed Burley may face legal action

By Ian Johnston

Sky News presenter Kay Burley turned up at Ascot yesterday sporting a black eye after being accused of an "unprovoked attack" on a photographer for which she may face legal action.

She was struck in the face in the media scrum outside Uxbridge magistrates' court, west London, on Friday, as supermodel Naomi Campbell left with a community service order for assault.

It is not clear who landed the blow, but Ms Burley appeared certain it was Associated Press photographer Kirsty Wigglesworth, who was pictured thrust up against a wall with Ms Burley's hand round her neck. AP said the photographer was "sure" she had not bumped Ms Burley, adding: "[She] was the victim of an unprovoked and inexcusable attack." Ms Wigglesworth was said to be taking legal advice.

A spokeswoman for Sky News said: "Kay just put her hands up. If she did anything else, she apologises."
