"#NowPlaying" has again reached the top spot in Twitter's trending topics on January 18 at 9:30 AM GMT.
The term #NowPlaying is joined at the top of Twitter's most talked about topics by tweets about the Caribbean country of Haiti. Twitter users are among those headlining a global effort to raise money for victims of the devastating Haiti earthquakes that shook the country on January 12.
America's Golden Globes awards ceremony took place on January 17 and is a hotly talked about topic on Twitter on the morning of January 18.
3D flick Avatar took the award for Best Motion Picture - Drama. Director James Cameron received the Best Director award for his work on Avatar.
People in the US are celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, held every year on the third Monday of January. Twitter users are celebrating the day by posting quotes attributed to the human rights icon, saying, "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity," "We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools" and "We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
