Japanese fashion label Uniqlo remains at the top of Twitter's trending topics on May 25 with the term "UNIQLO LUCKY LINE?????".
Fans of the fashion brand are heading to the company's website to auto-tweet their Uniqlo virtual line number in the hope theirs will be selected to win a 1,000 yen (9€, $11) voucher for Uniqlo stores.
May 25 is #towelday in the Twittersphere and around the world as people pay tribute to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy author Douglas Adams - by taking a towel with them wherever they go. "#towelday" is third on the list of Twitter's most talked about topics today, lodged between the memes "#didyoureallythink" (in second place) and #iknowsomeonethat (in fourth place).
The name of Paul Gray, bass player for heavy metal band Slipknot, is the fifth most talked about topic on Twitter. The American musician died of "unknown causes" on May 24. "Slipknot" is also trending in tenth place.
Twitter users are still discussing the final episode of TV show Lost. "Lost finale" is sixth on the list of trending topics.
Hasri Ainun Habibie, the wife of former Indonesian President B.J. Habibie passed away in Germany during the week. Twitter users are paying their respects on the social network by including "Ainun" and/or "Habibie" in their tweets.
"If we had a dollar for every complaint about this oil spill, it wouldn't compare to our current fortune. Oil is a lucrative industry!" says Twitter user @BPGlobalPR - an account that makes fun of BP's public relations division. The tweet is being spread through Twitter, causing "Oil Spill" to trend in ninth place.
