Ewan McGregor, the film star, has undergone hostile environment training with Ray Mears, the survival expert, and former members of the SAS to prepare for a 20,000-mile motorcycle adventure to be filmed for television. The Trainspotting star will travel with his fellow actor Charley Boorman, son of John Boorman, who directed films including Point Blank . McGregor admitted that his family would "probably be delighted" if he called off the trip, which will take him through Eastern Europe, across Kazakhstan, through Siberia, across the Bering Sea to Alaska, and on to the Atlantic Ocean.
