YOU read it here first. On 12 August, when everyone else was writing off the BBC 1 soap Eldorado, William Phillips wrote unfashionably on this page: 'The Sun's page seven lead may yet be: 'Eldo-ratings] No- hope soap races up chart'.' Last Friday, just nine days later, a Sun leader declared: 'Swelldorado] We can't wait for the autumn nights to draw in. Because Eldorado's getting better. The BBC's expensive new soap may not be a flop after all.'
