PAMELA TAYLOR, departing director of corporate affairs at the BBC, is leaving for the World Health Organisation after less than a year minding John Birt. Those who know the WHO, which has been engulfed in turmoil, and its unpopular reappointed director-general, Dr Hiroshi Nakajima, wonder whether she is a glutton for punishment or has jumped from the frying pan into the fire. 'I thought I'd had some practice,' says Ms Taylor.
