Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has joined Match Of The Day as a regular pundit for the new season.

Redknapp will feature on the show alongside Mick McCarthy and regulars Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer throughout the season.

He was axed by Tottenham earlier this year and replaced by former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Redknapp was widely touted as favourite for the England job, but lost out to Roy Hodgson after walking free from court following a 13-day trial over accusations of tax-dodging.

Hansen's former Liverpool teammate Mark Lawrenson will also continue to feature on an occasional basis.

The show, hosted by Gary Lineker, returns to BBC1 tomorrow night at 10.30pm with Colin Murray's Match Of The Day 2 starting in a new slot on the same channel on Sunday nights.

McCarthy was sacked by Wolverhampton Wanderers in February after a run of poor results which eventually saw the team relegated to the Championship.
