Skype will be providing free internet access to users from March 20 to 21 via more than 100,000 hotspots located across the globe to celebrate the launch of Skype Access.
Skype Access enables users to surf the web, send emails and make free voice calls or video-to-Skype calls through a global network of WiFi points.
Skype Access will be completely free from Saturday, March 20 at 1 am to 00h59 Monday, March 22. When the promotional period expires, users will be able to pay for access to selected WiFi hotspots on a per-minute basis using their Skype credits.
Consumers wanting to try Skype Access will need to have the latest version of Skype installed on their laptop.
Google provided customers with a similar incentive during the Christmas holidays last year, providing free internet connections for international travellers wanting to surf the web whist waiting for their flights in Airports across America.
A list of compatible Skype Access WiFi hotspots can be found here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10372/Which-SSID-should-I-use-to-connect-with-Skype-Access?frompage=search&q=skype+access
