Meeting over Jewish anger
ROBIN COOK is to meet a deputation from the Board of British Jews in the wake of a row last month over his visit to a Jewish settlement in Israel, writes Fran Abrams.
The board postponed its annual dinner, at which the Foreign Secretary was to have been the guest of honour, after he insisted on visiting Har Homa, a settlement outside Jerusalem. The official line was that the event in May would have clashed with the G8 economic summit.
Last night a statement said the meeting had been arranged "to discuss British policy towards Israel and the Middle East peace process following Mr Cook's recent controversial visit".
