A divorced mother of four has been found strangled in bed after a night out with friends, police revealed yesterday.

The body of Janet O'Donaghue, 36, a former UDR Greenfinch, was discovered by her daughter Michelle, 14. Neighbours in the city of Armagh heard the girl cry out: "My God, my God, Mummy, don't leave me." Police were called to the house after the body was discovered on Saturday just hours after she returned home from a disco in the city. Detective Superintendent Neville McCoubrey said that no motive had yet been established. Mrs O'Donaghue had been with friends when she left the disco to take a taxi home with a man in the early hours of Saturday; the man left the house after an hour. Mrs O'Donaghue's brother, Norman Gordon, said: "She was such a good and kind person. She didn't deserve to die like this."
