A man who has been questioned about the murders of Lin Russell and her daughter Megan appeared in court yesterday on burglary and robbery charges.

Michael Stone, 37, of Gillingham, Kent, was remanded in custody at the magistrates' court in Chatham. He faced two charges of burglary on 11 July 1996, and one of robbery in Rochester, Kent, on 23 July last year. Mr Stone, who is unemployed, was remanded in custody for seven days. A police spokesman said: "These charges are not connected with the murders of Lin and Megan Russell."
