London Underground talks at Acas broke up last night with unions saying they would consider an offer over the weekend, an Acas spokesman said.
Earlier, the rail union RMT and the train drivers' union Aslef had dismissed the latest offer, although both sides had appeared keen to break the deadlock before the strike planned for Tuesday. London Transport had asked the unions to suspend strike action and attend arbitration at the wages board on 28 August. Louise Jury
