The future of Pure Genius, a "village" built on derelict land in south-west London, is in doubt after a senior High Court official granted landowners Guinness court orders paving the way for eviction of its residents.
"Villagers" from the green commune, on the banks of the River Thames, failed in their attempt to prevent Guinness winning orders for possession which could lead to their immediate removal - and the end of a New Age dream.
Pure Genius came into being earlier this year after 500 campaigners occupied the 13-acre site as a protest against land use. Most drifted away, but a core of some 40 people built huts and a communal roundhouse and started to plant crops such as marrows, potatoes and tomatoes as well as different types of herbs.
