Police are investigating the murder of a Frenchman and his British wife whose bodies were found in a car boot at the bottom of a canal in eastern France.
Four days before their 2 April disappearance, the couple, both 48, withdrew pounds 65,000 from their bank account in Le Havre, where they lived. Police said the money was missing.
Alain Hay, of Le Havre, and Angela Hay, originally of Portsmouth, had been in the Mulhouse region since February. They had plans to set up a business in Le Havre, importing luxury cars. They were found on Saturday in the boot of a car with German licence plates and had just returned from Switzerland. Police had been searching for them since their two adult children told authorities in April they were missing. AP
