Reading Derek Hodgson's excellent obituary of "Fiery" Fred Trueman [3 July] I was astounded that there was no mention of Fred's involvement, in the mid-Seventies, with the cult Yorkshire TV programme The Indoor League, writes Glenn Showler.

As the beer-swilling, pipe-smoking host Fred, dressed in hideous sweaters, epitomised the then pub-going public whose evening consisted of darts, dominoes, bar billiards, arm-wrestling, table football, skittles etc (most of which are no more than distant memories to most of us) and he gave us one of the most endearing sign-offs TV will ever remember - "I'll sithee" . . .
