One of Hugh Jenkins's contemporaries at Enfield Grammar School, writes Graham Dalling [further to the obituary by Tam Dalyell, 28 January], was the distinguished travel writer Norman Lewis, also of Welsh descent. As far as Enfield Grammar School was concerned, both were academic failures. Only a truly remarkable school could produce "failures" of such high calibre.
