The new parents also indulged in a spot of ‘guess the baby’ fun with fans, by confusing the first ever shot of their newborn with random images

"Not news!" came the rallying cry, as the People section shared their story about reproducing famous couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis with their Twitter followers.

And we’d be inclined to agree – it isn’t an earth-shattering revelation that will make any difference to your lives or anyone else’s. Continents will remain in much the same position as they were previously, and presumably, the moon will maintain its gravitational pull over the ocean.

It is, however, mildly amusing.

Because they’ve given their baby girl a surname as a first name. And we can only presume named her after The Independent's Online Arts and Entertainment editor Daisy Wyatt, too.

"Mila and I would like to welcome Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher to the world," Kutcher wrote on his website.

Daisy Wyatt was quick to respond to request for comment on the honour.

"While I do not condone the American tendency to call children by Anglo-Saxon surnames, Mila and Ashton have made an astounding choice," she said.

"Wyatt is a strong-sounding, robust name and will see their daughter in great stead. As long as people pronounce it correctly."

Of course, in the US, the name Wyatt is a more popular moniker for boys, named after great western lawman and gambler of the 1800s, Wyatt Earp.

"May your life be filled with wonder, love, laughter, health, happiness, curiosity, and privacy," Kutcher added to his web post.

And by privacy, he appeared to mean "mild confusion and enforced fun", as he challenged fans to work out which child was in fact the couple’s from a random assortment of baby photos.

"Can you guess which one is ours, or does it really matter?" he wrote. "All babies are cute."

The pair met on the set of That 70s Show, but didn't start dating until 2012. They got engaged earlier this year.

Kunis gave birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Speaking about who she wants her children to be in life, Kunis told Marie Claire magazine: "I just don't want my kids to be a**holes. I feel like so many kids are nowadays."
