18 January: The Duchess of Kent this morning visited Lane Cottage Community Home for Children, Green Lane, Walton on the Naze, Essex, and was met on arrival by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Essex (The Lord Braybrooke).
Her Royal Highness later visited Acorn Village, Clacton Road, Manningtree, and this afternoon opened the Lordship Science Centre at Writtle Agricultural College, Chelmsford, Essex.

Princess Alexandra, Patron, visits the offices of the Alzheimer's Disease Society at 10 Greencoat Place, London SW1.
