28 January: The Duchess of Gloucester today visited Greater Manchester and was received on arrival by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Greater Manchester (Colonel John Timmins).
Her Royal Highness opened the Nursery at Well Green Primary School, Briony Avenue, Hale, Trafford, and afterwards visited Canadian Pizza Crust Company (UK) Ltd, Missouri Avenue, Weaste, Salford. Later The Duchess of Gloucester visited 'Park House', the new Mental Illness Unit and the Elderly Severely Mentally Infirm Unit at North Manchester General Hospital, Crumpsall.
