Courtney Love has been attacked in a number of abusive posts suggesting she knew more about how Kurt Cobain died after posting a moving Instagram tribute to the Nirvana frontman.

The Hole singer shared poignant pictures of Cobain and their daughter Frances Bean Cobain on Saturday. Cobain died in his Seattle home of a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head in 1994 when was 27-years-old.

Alongside one image, Love wrote: “Makes me feel so sad. Our baby is all grown up now. Jesus Kurt look at her face, what on earth were you thinking..!?!? God I miss you, we all miss you #family #memories #turnbacktime #lovehim.”

Almost immediately, a number of users reignited spurious claims about his death and urged the Seattle police department to re-open their investigation.

The post has received dozens of accusatory and insulting messages over three days, with one user writing: “F**k you Courtney. Be a real woman and just admit the truth. We miss him and hate you.”

Love and her daughter have been blighted by conspiracy theories surrounding Cobain’s death over the last two decades.

She recently issued a cease and desist notice against any cinemas who wanted to show Benjamin Statler’s recent documentary Soaked In Bleach, which explored theories Cobain’s death was not a suicide.
