Danny Dyer has been forced to deny claims that he had an affair with a 21-year-old student.
The Eastenders star cancelled a book signing appearance at Bluewater shopping centre in the wake of an article published by the Sunday Mirror.
The tabloid newspaper alleged that he had been unfaithful to his partner of 19 years, Joanne Mas, after a trip to a nightclub.
The publication claimed to have seen mobile phone images of Dyer with a “young brunette”.
However, Dyer dismissed the reports as “lies”, and tweeted the following:
The actor, who has been in a relationship with Mas – the mother of his three children – since 1995, has been open about his infidelities in the past.
Sorry 2 those who came 2 blue water today. I feel terrible. My family want 2 thank the Sunday Mirror 4 making this the best day ever #liesDanny Dyer (@MrDDyer) June 22, 2014
Speaking in 2009, he expressed remorse over his actions.
“I’ve done so many things I’ve regretted,” he told ContactMusic at the time.
“I've royally f***ed up with my missus. I got caught doing something I shouldn't have. I hate myself for what I did and for being tempted by forbidden fruit.”
A spokesperson for Dyer is yet to respond to request for further comment.
