Dustin Diamond, best known for playing Screech in Saved by The Bell, has been released on bail following his arrest for allegedly assaulting a man in a bar fight last Friday.

His girlfriend, Amanda Schutz, was also charged with disorderly conduct over the incident in Port Washington.

Diamond, 37, allegedly assaulted a man with a flick knife, who, he alleges, was harassing his girlfriend. The actor, who was found to be in possession of flick knife, claims he was acting in self-defence. The victim's wounds were not life-threatening.

He was being held on a $10,000 bail, but yesterday made a brief court appearance on charges of reckless endangerment, possession of a switchblade and carrying a concealed weapon, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's office website.

Diamond appeared in the last episode of Saved By The Bell over 20 years ago in 1993 and has also featured in multiple reality television shows in the US – including Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Fit Club and Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling.
