George Bush gave hope to millions of average students everywhere when he reminded graduates at a university in Texas C-grade students can become President too.
Giving the commencement address at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, his wife’s alma mater, the former president offered his congratulations: “To those of you who are graduating this afternoon with high honours, awards and distinctions, I say, ‘Well done’.”
“And as I like to tell the C-students: You too, can be President,” he added to laughter and applause.
During his well-received speech the president cracked a number jokes to the delight of the audience, including praising his wife as the "our nation's greatest first lady," before quipping: "Do me a favour and don't tell mother."
Despite his lacklustre grades Bush received degrees from the universities of Yale and Harvard, before he became governor of Texas and then President of the United States.
So the next time someone calls you up on your grades, tell them even George Bush became president.Reuse content
