Ian Wright back in Brazil for ITV's World Cup coverage after knife-wielding thieves break into his home

The ITV pundit continues his duties after his family were threatened by armed robbers

Ian Wright has arrived back in Brazil to continue his ITV World Cup pundit duties, after making an emergency trip back to the UK following an armed burglary that took place at his London home.

His wife and children were threatened by four masked robbers who were carrying knives.

Wright’s wife, Nancy, was told that the children’s fingers would be cut off if she didn’t co-operate.

They stole the former footballer’s MBE and a rare watch given to him by Dennis Bergkamp, among other things.

Wright tweeted this weekend that a reward would be offered to anyone who has information leading to the arrest, saying, “Justice will be done”.

Police are currently investigating the incident.

“We are trying to trace these four men, and I'd ask anyone who may know anything to get in touch with my team and help us,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mick Gornall, who is leading the investigation.

“Fortunately no one was injured during the burglary, but it is still very frightening to have people force their way into your home and threaten you.”

Wright is now back in Brazil, where he will resume his World Cup commentary, and he seemed in good spirits.

He shared a series of tweets to announce his return, including a meme of Lion King character Rafiki – which featured a message about forgiveness.

No one was injured in the incident, which took place last week.
