YouTube stars Jesse Wellens and Jeana Smith have told fans they are breaking up after being together for 10 years.

The former couple whose YouTube account is called Bf vs Gf have amassed a following of nearly nine million and shared joint videos of their daily lives every day for nearly seven years.

Wellens and Smith, both 33, announced their break-up in an emotive 10-minute clip titled ‘A New Chapter’ which saw them both reduced to tears. The video has already been watched more than five million times.

The pair both cite the pressure of their YouTube careers as the cause of their breakup.

“The weight of our relationship is the weight of our careers is the weight of our whole lives and that pressure is not good for a relationship,” Wellens said in the video.

The couple, who are from Philadelphia, are also known for their other YouTube channel Prank vs Prank which documents the humorous pranks they have played on each other and others. The channel has more than 1.7 billion video views and 9.9 million subscribers.

“A lot of stuff goes on that we don’t record, of course, because we only want to show the positivity and awesomeness of our blogs and we don’t show a lot of the hardship,” Wellens explained in the clip.

“Everybody thinks everything's perfect, that we have a perfect life, and it's really not at all,” Smith added. ”Everybody has problems, everybody has issues but we choose not to put that in the videos usually.”

The duo explained they were going to “take a break” from blogging and their relationship. Wellens plans to move to New York City while Smith will stay in Philadelphia. “I have a huge passion for making short films and YouTube videos but this is just what has to be done for us to keep our sanity. That’s it,” Wellens explained.

The video poignantly finishes with them explaining they love each other and will do so forever. The two rose to fame as a double act and continue to be known as a pair, meaning the news has come as a great shock to their fans.
