Kim Kardashian-West says she had no idea husband Kanye was going to announce presidential bid at VMAs
"That’s a big thing to, you know, not talk to your wife about," she points out
When Kanye West announced at the 2015 VMAs that he would be running for president in 2020, most people dismissed it as a joke.
It didn’t help that the rapper is known for his hyperbolic statements, or that an audience member shouted the suggestion at him from the audience.
But whether he will run or not, one thing’s clear: wife Kim Kardashian-West is completely in the dark.
“[It] was news to me,” she admitted, appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “That wasn’t a discussion in our household. That’s a big thing to, you know, not talk to your wife about.”
She added that although she didn’t get a heads up from her husband before the announcement, that didn’t mean he wasn’t serious about his political career.
“I believe he is serious, and I know if he puts his mind to something he’ll do his best,” she said. “It’s been fascinating hearing all the conversations that’ve gone on since that announcement. I don’t know if that was placed, and I just don’t know about it, or if he came up with the idea right there and then.”
Although it sounded like part of his speech, many people were confused at Kanye's "And yes, I will be running for president" line until video footage of someone making the suggestion to Kanye emerged following the VMAs.
But while Kardashian-West has no clue what the future holds, however, she is still looking forward to it.

"So I was like, ‘You’re going to want to redo the whole White House, and we’re not going to be able to enjoy it.”
Wel, he'd still be a better candidate than Donald Trump.
